David was trained in arranging at the Royal College of Music and London Weekend Television. He has gone on to arrange all the music for the last 20 years for the late Danny La Rue in addition to 33 pantos, several musicals and recently for The National Lottery programme and BBC London.

It is, however, for his arrangements on major cruise ships that he is chiefly known, and it was recently quoted that there is scarcely a ship afloat that does not have an arrangement of his on board (excepting, possibly the Isle of Wight Ferry).
